This cable is compatible with all versions of Rocksmith on all available platforms. Rocksmith usually includes the Real Tone Cable in the box, except downloaded versions.

In searching this issue on the web I've seen others reporting this as well. The Rocksmith Real Tone Cable is a unique 1/4'-to-USB cable that enables Rocksmith to detect and respond to your electric guitar or bass. Trying to add it in the midi application by adding a new device doesn't work either due to the cable not being seen. When I try to use the Rocksmith USB cable to connect my guitar to my Mac, the usb cable does not show under USB in system info. In order to use a real electric guitar or bass, you must purchase a male 0.25-inch to USB guitar cable. I also know the cable works fine as I've used it on my PC running Windows 7. Though Rocksmith itself is just 40, that isnt the full extent of its cost. My USB port works as I have used it to read a flash drive, an apple super CD/DVD drive and use a Logitec Cordless mouse. One end of the splitter connects RealTone to PC (so RockSmith picks up what Im. Rocksmith 2014 is installed from Steam and seems to runs fine, obvioulsy can't play or tune my guitar on it with the Mac since the Mac doesn't detect the USB cable. A simple cable Y splitter will allow two guitars to work on one amp.
